Recorded 26 Sep 2017 @ Big Orange Sheep Studios in Brooklyn, NY.
This pair of singles features the expert vocal interpretations of Tamar Korn, who sang for the Cangelosi Cards, now a seminal NYC trad jazz revival band that Gordon stumbled onto and then joined back in 2006.
Ain't No Sweet Man Worth the Salt of My Tears was written by Fred Fisher in the last 1920s. It was first recorded by the Paul Whiteman Orchestra in 1928 with a young Bing Crosby on vocals along with the Rhythm Boys backing him up. Fisher was a Tin Pan Alley songwriter who also wrote known songs such as "Chicago (That Toddlin' Town)," As well as the 1936 collaboration with lyricist Ada Benson, "Your Feets Too Big" which was a huge hit for Fats Waller.
Speaking of Fats, he also recorded the definitive version of the stellar Let's Pretend There's a Moon. A song written by Russ Colombo, a crooner who also sang with the Gus Arnheim Orchestra.
